Not Now, God. I’m Busy.

Not Now, God. I’m Busy.

Someone once said “God offers the greatest opportunities at the most inconvenient moments.” That’s way too stinkin’ true. And sometimes God gives opportunities even when I ABSOLUTELY do not want them.   Read the rest of this entry

A Game of Musical Beds (to be completed by YOU!)

A Game of Musical Beds (to be completed by YOU!)

Currently, my entire family is coughing. ALL. NIGHT. LONG.

My wife has a strange cough mechanism that seems to only be triggered when she lies (lays?) down. It seems our children may have inherited this baffling oddity. Read the rest of this entry

WHAT’S MY LINE? the loss of personal convictions

WHAT’S MY LINE? the loss of personal convictions

My Dad did not like to hear cuss words. He would often give one warning to any given movie or show and after that, the plug was pulled. And when the remote was missing (or in the days before we had one), Dad had us get up, walk to the TV, and press the power button. This made it even more annoying. Read the rest of this entry

WHEEL OF FORTUNE: THE COMPLETE SAGA, our contestant audition experience, the epic finale

WHEEL OF FORTUNE: THE COMPLETE SAGA, our contestant audition experience, the epic finale

Welcome back to WHEEL WEDNESDAY (actually on Wednesday this week)!

On February 15, 2012, my wife and I appeared on Wheel of Fortune during their valentine’s couples’ week. I am writing a detailed account (in parts) for those interested (and because in the months before our show we read as many blogs as possible from former contestants).

You are about to embark on the FIFTH and FINAL leg of our journey together. Read the rest of this entry

Painful Peace

Painful Peace

Painful Peace. Is it an oxymoron? I don’t think so.

WHEEL OF FORTUNE: THE COMPLETE SAGA, our contestant audition experience, part four

Yup, that’s us!

Welcome back to WHEEL WEDNESDAY! (aka Monday.)

On February 15, 2012, my wife and I appeared on Wheel of Fortune during their valentine’s couples’ week. I am writing a detailed account (in parts) for those interested (and because in the months before our show we read as many blogs as possible from former contestants). I plan to post one new part each week for the next few weeks. My original intent was to have a Wheel Wednesday, but I started on a Monday, thus, the reason for the first line of this post.

You are about to embark on the FOURTH leg of our journey together. Read the rest of this entry

Dear God, What’s Your Favorite Cookie? a lesson in gossip and prayer

My kids know how to address only one parent: Mommy.

Mommy is always the first one called for anything and everything. Even when I’m the only one home, they still always yell, MOMMMMMYYYYYYY!” I should admit, I don’t ever correct them. (Dear Jesus, if you’ve ever answered a prayer, please answer this one: can you hide that last sentence from my wife when she reads this? Thank you in advance. Your bestest friend, Darren.)
